AT HOME IN SUMBA
With only six villas set along a secluded stretch of Aili Beach, Konda Maloba offers an unusual degree of privacy. We call each villa “Uma,” the Sumbanese word for “home.” Each has its own garden, ocean views and direct access to the beach, with Mandala, the restaurant, bar and pools, only a short walk away. The property may also be reserved in its entirety.
Our Signature Sanctuary
Uma Sumba
This year, just one Uma Sumba is available. Uma Sumba combines the scale and presence of a traditional Sumbanese clan house with the privacy of its own garden and terrace. Its twelve-metre-high thatched roof rises above an open interior, while a skylight above the bed reveals the craftsmanship of the timber structure overhead. Large natural stone steps descend towards the beach, while the open interior frames the surrounding landscape.

Our Beachfront Retreat
Uma Panah
Five Uma Panah are set among the landscape, each with its own interior and character. Raised on columns beneath distinctive arrow-shaped thatched roofs, they are handmade in timber using traditional joinery. Each has a private garden and outdoor lounge, with the beach just steps away and a jungle behind. Inside, the spaces are intimate and tactile, layered with natural materials and bespoke details inspired by Sumba.

The heart of the property
Mandala
Wander through the gardens or along the beach and eventually arrive at Mandala, the communal heart of Konda Maloba. Built from hand-cut Sumbanese stone and salvaged timber, it brings together the restaurant, bar, pool and living spaces, designed as an extension of home. Adorned with authentic art and objects collected from across Eastern Indonesia and Carola Vooges’ oceanic sculptures, it is a place where stories unfold.

ACCOMMODATION
Rates include full-board dining and select non-alcoholic beverages, with daily breakfast, lunch, afternoon snacks and bonfire snacks accompanied by a signature cocktail, followed by a multi-course dinner at Mandala.
Arrival & Departure
Check-in is from 2:00 pm and check-out is by 12:00 pm. Should your travel plans fall outside these times, please let us know in advance and we will do our best to accommodate your arrival or departure schedule.

All rates are quoted in USD as a guide and are subject to availability and seasonal adjustments.
Payments and invoices will be processed in Indonesian Rupiah (IDR) using the prevailing exchange rate on the date of payment.
